I’ve been hearing a lot about the destruction of rain forests in Indonesia to create palm plantations and that the indigenous orangutan and elephant populations are in danger - Where does your palm fruit oil come from?

The palm fruit oil used in Barney Butter almond butter comes from Malaysia. Sustainability is a primary concern to both Barney Butter and to our supplier, and we are both members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).

The RSPO is comprised of governments, palm growers, palm oil users, and non-governmental organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund. The goal of the RSPO is the preservation of the natural environment in a sustainable way that also permits reasonable growth of palm oil plantations that support local populations.
